Gu brings over 15 years of experience in building planetary-scale data ecosystems, holding more than 90 patents and 100 research publications. At BRG, he will lead the development of the firm’s AI foundation layer—a suite of reusable data and governance tools designed to help clients deploy technology with measurable control. His role involves advising boards and executive teams on AI strategy, platform modernization, and the rigorous governance structures required for high-stakes business decisions.
Peter Smith, who leads BRG’s AI and Decision Intelligence practice, noted that Gu’s background in mission-critical environments is essential as clients move beyond pilot programs. Gu, who earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Minnesota, will oversee the expansion of BRG’s internal AI capabilities while helping organizations across financial services, healthcare, and energy sectors bridge the gap between technical ambition and commercial impact.
