Thrupp & Maberly Returns to British Coachbuilding

Tracing its lineage to the eighteenth century, the storied British coachbuilder Thrupp & Maberly has officially relaunched in Coventry. The firm moves away from heritage replicas, shifting its focus toward producing ultra-low-volume, contemporary motor cars designed for an international clientele seeking high-end bespoke craftsmanship and modern engineering.

Founded through a partnership between Brendan O'Toole and Lars Carlstrom, the atelier employs a team of sixty specialists tasked with delivering private, highly individualized commissions. Rather than recreating the past, the company aims to blend traditional coachbuilding techniques with current automotive technology, prioritizing exclusivity and refined aesthetics in every vehicle.

The firm is currently developing its inaugural project, titled Project Mayfair. This venture serves as a modern interpretation of the classic British grand touring car, emphasizing curated materials and precise coachwork. Further specifications regarding the debut model are expected later this autumn as the company establishes its footprint in the luxury market.
