The fitness chain, which now operates 2,930 locations across its global footprint, saw its net income rise to $67.1 million, or $0.87 per diluted share, up from $58.0 million in the same period last year. To bolster shareholder value, the company repurchased and retired approximately 4.0 million shares of its Class A common stock, a move valued at $200 million.
Chief Executive Officer Colleen Keating emphasized that the company is currently pivoting its strategy to better reach a broader audience. Beyond refining its "Judgement Free Zone" branding, Planet Fitness is experimenting with new membership structures and retention tactics. This period also marked a significant leadership change with the appointment of Sudhanshu Priyadarshi as Chief Financial Officer and President of International operations. Looking ahead, the company maintains a stable outlook for the remainder of 2026, projecting revenue growth of approximately 7% and planning to open between 180 and 190 new locations.
