Carson Daly Says ‘Today’ Holiday Parties Pick Up After Men Leave

Carson Daly says the “Today” anchors’ seasonal get-togethers can stretch into lively afternoons, with the women’s celebrations taking a turn after the male anchors depart. Daly told Page Six he sometimes hears the next day about what happened after he left early.

Speaking exclusively to Page Six at the Today Studio on Thursday, Daly said the gatherings involve cocktails. Co-anchor Laura Jarrett said the group typically starts its happy hours at about 1 p.m.

“I leave at three, and I come into work the next day, and there are stories about you guys staying there, and Ubers, and all kinds of stuff,” Daly said. “So, we have a good time when we get together.” Jarrett joked: “The boys leave at one point in the afternoon, and then that’s when things really get interesting.” The anchors also hold a white elephant gift exchange.

Savannah Guthrie has previously recounted a mishap at one of the show’s Christmas parties. On “Watch What Happens Live” in July 2024, she said the event started at about 3 p.m. and involved “a lot of day drinking.” The next morning, she realized she was missing a molar. “I had, like, a blank space. It’s weird,” she said.

The article also reports Daly’s appointment as permanent co-anchor of “Saturday Today.” NBC announced the move on November 5, 2026; his debut is scheduled for November 7. He will join Jarrett, Joe Fryer and Angie Lassman while continuing on the weekday programme and as host and executive producer of “The Voice,” which he has worked on since its 2011 premiere. The Saturday role replaces the position previously held by Peter Alexander, who left NBC in March.
