KATSEYE Tour Cancellations Raise Concerns About Exhaustion

Last-minute cancellations on KATSEYE’s sold-out Wildworld Tour have prompted insiders to question whether the group’s workload is becoming unsustainable. The concerns follow Megan Skiendiel’s illness and the existing absences of Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza, as the tour continues to expand internationally.

Geffen Records executives were reportedly frustrated after the group canceled its Detroit show shortly before it was due to begin. An insider told the Daily Mail that the label was “very frustrated that Katseye is having trouble,” saying the disruption was especially painful because the performances had sold out within 48 hours.

Thousands of fans were at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena when the cancellation was announced, 30 minutes before showtime. The group said Skiendiel was “unwell and unable to perform tonight.” Chicago and Minneapolis performances were also postponed. Another insider said Skiendiel had struggled over whether to perform, describing a pressure to keep going because fans were counting on the group. “Sometimes your body makes that decision for you,” the source said.

The cancellations have renewed questions about the group’s schedule. Bannerman began a hiatus in February, amid controversy that included allegations of racial bias, which the remaining members denied. Bannerman had previously criticized being called lazy, particularly as a Black performer. Laforteza later stepped away to focus on her mental health; her return is scheduled for January 2027.

Members have also described exhaustion during South American festival appearances, including feeling close to “throwing up” or “fainting.” Yoonchae Jeung said she had slept for only “two hours.” An insider alleged the members were being overworked and said the situation should not be allowed to become a pattern, though the source added that the cancellations would not erase the group’s achievements.

KATSEYE, formed through “The Debut: Dream Academy,” has had Billboard success, two Grammy nominations and partnerships with Gap, Fendi and Coach. Its Gap campaign reportedly generated eight billion media impressions, and the Wildworld Tour’s original 27 dates sold out within 48 hours. Insiders said the drive to capitalize on that success could make rest difficult, with one warning that the group was “burning the candle from both ends.” The tour is scheduled to conclude in March 2027.

The itinerary has also grown. The Asian and Oceania leg is set to start in Yokohama on January 27, 2027, and includes stops in Manila, Hong Kong, Seoul, Cebu, Singapore, Bangkok and Taipei, followed by Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. KATSEYE’s first standalone South Korean concert is scheduled for February 4 at Seoul’s 15,000-capacity KSPO Dome.
