Kellie Pickler Settles Dispute Over Kyle Jacobs’ Belongings

A confidential agreement has ended Kellie Pickler’s legal dispute with her late husband Kyle Jacobs’ parents over his personal belongings. Court documents say the parties resolved their claims on November 3 and were satisfied with the distribution of assets, but they did not disclose which items went to each side.

Pickler and Jacobs’ parents, Reed and Sharon, had been contesting the songwriter’s possessions for more than two years. Jacobs died by suicide on February 17, 2023, aged 49. His parents became co-administrators of his estate after Pickler declined the role, according to reports cited in the source coverage.

The items at issue included watches, jewelry, musical instruments, electronics, baseball cards and firearms. Among those sought were a Rolex, guitars, an iPhone, a laptop and a grand piano. Pickler said some belongings were not in her possession and disputed ownership of others. She also alleged her former in-laws removed items from her home without providing a complete inventory. Reed and Sharon said they entered the property with permission.

The dispute escalated in early 2025, when Jacobs’ parents asked the court to sanction Pickler, alleging she had not complied with a subpoena for property they believed belonged to the estate. Her lawyers argued the subpoena did not provide a proper basis for a contempt finding. Pickler retained attorney John I. Harris in April 2025, according to The Blast.

The settlement closes the competing claims, but its terms remain private. It does not establish that either side’s earlier allegations were proven, and neither party has publicly explained whether money changed hands or detailed the distribution.

Pickler and Jacobs married in 2011 and appeared together on the reality series “I Love Kellie Pickler.” After his death, she largely withdrew from public life. She returned to the stage in April 2024 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, performing “The Woman I Am,” a song she co-wrote with Jacobs, during a Patsy Cline tribute.
