Expert Sees Zac Affleck’s Divorce Video as a Sign He’s Stuck in the Past

Zac Affleck’s emotional TikTok about his marriage has drawn a “big red flag” warning from body language expert Inbaal Honigman, who said his gestures suggested discomfort with divorce and a focus on the couple’s early romance. Jen Affleck’s posts, by contrast, challenged his claim that he had been her biggest supporter.

Honigman assessed Zac’s November 5 video in commentary supplied to The Blast and commissioned by Casino.org. She pointed to hand-wringing, shoulder-shrugging and a tense jaw as signs of discomfort. She also read his sustained eye contact as sincere and his clenched jaw as an effort to appear brave.

When Zac recalled meeting Jen, his eyes moved upward and sideways, Honigman said, interpreting that movement as linked to happy memories. “He still idealizes and idolizes first-date Jen, but he’s not quite as romantic towards second-date Jen, wife and mom Jen,” she said. “Adulthood has not been as joyful for him.” These are Honigman’s interpretations of the video, not an explanation of the couple’s reasons for splitting.

Jen, 27, filed for divorce in Utah on November 3 after seven years of marriage. She also submitted a proposed parenting plan, whose details have not been made public. Zac said a TMZ reporter told him about the filing, although the couple had discussed separating. He said Jen first told him she wanted a divorce around a year earlier, after appearing on “Dancing With the Stars,” and that he “basically begged her to stay.”

Zac acknowledged mistakes and said parenting and reality television strained the marriage. He described the relationship as gradually losing its spark, said the series had “hurt a lot of people’s lives,” and promised to remain Jen’s “biggest fan.” The couple share Nora, Luca and Penelope, and Jen is pregnant with their fourth child. Zac said his greatest fear was failing their children and that he hoped they could remain supportive co-parents.

Jen later posted old footage of Zac criticizing her appearance as she filmed content two weeks after giving birth. “He was never my biggest supporter,” she captioned it. Zac acknowledged that his 2022 remarks were hurtful, writing that they were “obviously horrible and should have never been said,” and that the footage shocked him. The couple’s relationship troubles, including disputes over gambling and Jen’s professional opportunities, have also featured on Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” They met through a Mormon dating app in 2018, married in 2019 and briefly separated before reconciling. The publicly reported divorce filing does not state the reason for the split.
