Johansson, 41, was asked which of her upcoming films, including “The Exorcist: Martyrs,” had challenged her most. She named the DC sequel, saying the difficulty might have been tied to the role, her stage of life or other circumstances. “It was tough in a lot of ways,” she said. Johansson joined the cast in May, but her character’s identity and nature have largely been kept under wraps.
Filming is continuing after director Matt Reeves took a break for a family matter. Robert Pattinson, who returns as Batman, recently confirmed that cameras were rolling again. He also praised Steven Soderbergh, who stepped in during Reeves’ absence, calling his help “incredibly generous” and “completely selfless.”
The studio said Reeves and Soderbergh would work closely with the cast and crew to fulfill Reeves’ vision. Soderbergh has said he plans to produce footage that fits with material already shot, allowing Reeves to complete the film. He described Reeves’ work on the first movie as “stunning, intentional, and rigorously coherent.”
The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters in February 2027. Other new cast members include Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Speculation about the story has grown after fans spotted props labeled “Zsasz” and “OWL 3” in behind-the-scenes images shared by Heidi Klum. Some viewers also guessed that a face mold resembling Henry could point to him playing Two-Face. None of those theories has been confirmed by the studio.
