Scottish retail tech firm Snappy Group secures Virgin Money funding

Scottish retail technology firm Snappy Group has secured a seven-figure venture debt facility from Virgin Money to accelerate its expansion. The capital injection provides the company with increased flexibility to scale its platform as it continues to grow its reach within the UK convenience retail sector.

Best known for its quick commerce marketplace, Snappy Shopper, the company has evolved into a comprehensive retail technology provider. Its platform now offers order aggregation, white label services, and retail media solutions to a wide range of partners, including major names like Morrisons, SPAR, One Stop, and Co-op. Barry McGonagle, Chief Financial Officer at Snappy Group, stated that the new funding arrives at a pivotal moment, noting that transaction volumes across the platform are currently hitting record levels.

Andrew Stirrat, Senior Director of Venture Debt at Virgin Money, confirmed the bank has monitored the firm's progress for several years, citing the strength of the business and its sustained growth as primary drivers for the investment. This partnership aims to provide the necessary firepower for the company to pursue its ambitious growth strategy in an increasingly competitive omnichannel market.
