Ikea launches official flagship store on China’s Douyin platform

Ingka Group has officially expanded its digital footprint in China by launching an Ikea flagship store on Douyin. The move integrates the furniture giant into the ByteDance-owned content commerce ecosystem, offering over 6,500 products across 179 categories with delivery services reaching customers in 301 cities throughout the country.

The new digital storefront serves as a strategic addition to Ikea’s existing omnichannel network, which includes physical locations, its website, dedicated mobile apps, and WeChat presence. By leveraging Douyin’s short-form video capabilities, the retailer aims to bridge the gap between product discovery and purchasing in a highly integrated environment.

Lydia Song, Acting CEO and President of Ikea China, noted that the platform provides a unique context to engage with consumers, allowing the company to observe shifting shopping habits and refine its accessibility. Parag Parekh, Chief Digital Officer at Ingka Group, emphasized that the collaboration is focused on gathering insights into how inspiration and commerce converge, helping the brand maintain a unified experience across all digital and physical touchpoints.
