Retail Leadership Shuffles as Burberry and KFC Announce Digital Hires

Burberry has appointed former Pret A Manger executive Colin Traub as its new Digital Director, while Jon-Paul Brett has transitioned from the fashion house to lead digital and technology operations at KFC UK and Ireland, signaling a broader industry push to integrate sophisticated automation into daily consumer experiences.

Traub joins Burberry following a tenure at Pret A Manger, where he served as Head of Engineering and Integrations. His background also includes roles at Marks and Spencer and LuxExperience. Reflecting on the move via social media, Traub noted he was stepping into an exciting new chapter after a productive stint at the sandwich chain.

Simultaneously, KFC UK and Ireland has filled its Chief Digital and Technology Officer vacancy with Jon-Paul Brett. Brett arrives after more than a decade at Burberry, most recently serving as its Global Digital Director. The fast-food operator is currently prioritizing a digital-first strategy, citing that 70% of its transactions are already processed digitally. Management intends to leverage these appointments to accelerate the deployment of AI-driven tools, digital kiosks, and modern drive-thru formats to streamline restaurant operations and improve customer convenience.
