John Hancock Investors Trust Shakes Up Portfolio Management Team

John Hancock Investment Management has overhauled the leadership team for its Investors Trust, appointing two veteran managers from the Manulife | CQS Investment Management organization to oversee the fund. The transition, effective June 25, 2026, marks a strategic shift in the fund's management structure as it navigates current market conditions.

Darren Toner and Tim Jarombek join the fund’s management roster, bringing extensive experience in global high-yield strategies. Toner, who steps in as the head of the Global High Yield Team, contributes over two decades of industry expertise, including a long-standing tenure at CQS (UK) LLP. Jarombek adds 16 years of experience, including six years with CQS (US), LLC. They will work alongside existing portfolio managers Caryn Rothman and Jonas Grazulis, who remain with the fund.

This leadership change coincides with the departure of James Gearhart, who stepped down from his role as portfolio manager on the same date. Toner’s involvement is structured through a participating affiliate arrangement with the subadviser, while Jarombek operates under a sub-subadvisory agreement. These adjustments reflect the firm's ongoing effort to leverage specialized expertise within its multimanager investment framework, drawing on the broader resources of the Manulife global network.
