The Marietta facility holds the world record for the longest continuously running military aircraft production line, a legacy anchored by the C-130 program. While the site remains a global hub for sustainment and supply chain management, leadership is pivoting toward next-generation projects. O.J. Sanchez, president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, framed the anniversary as a transition point between the plant's historic output and future developments, including collaborative combat aircraft like the Lockheed Martin Vectis.
Governor Brian Kemp, appearing as the keynote speaker, highlighted the economic weight of the facility, which generated $4.5 billion for Georgia in 2025. With a current workforce of 5,600, the addition of 1,200 roles aims to sustain the production of the F-35 Lightning II center wing assemblies and Skunk Works initiatives. U.S. Representative Barry Loudermilk praised the site as a cornerstone of national security, emphasizing that the plant’s evolution from post-war manufacturing to advanced aerospace technology remains vital to both regional employment and global defense strategy.
