Mexico Bolsters Air Mobility with Second C-130J Super Hercules

The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM) is transitioning from its legacy Hercules fleet to the C-130J-30, a stretch variant featuring 15 additional feet of cargo space. This upgrade provides enhanced power, fuel efficiency, and payload capacity compared to earlier models. The move is designed to maintain the FAM’s long-standing operational history with the Hercules platform while modernizing its ability to handle diverse tactical requirements.

This expanded capacity arrives as Mexico takes a more active role in regional crisis response. Following the recent earthquakes in Venezuela, the first C-130J-30 was deployed to transport medical aid and personnel to the affected areas. With the arrival of the second aircraft, the FAM can now sustain these humanitarian missions for longer durations and across broader distances. Trish Pagan, vice president of Air Mobility & Maritime Missions at Lockheed Martin, noted that the investment highlights the platform’s interoperability with U.S. and allied forces, setting a new benchmark for tactical readiness in Latin America.
