Newer additions to the lineup—such as Takis Pix, Xtreme Lime, and Jalapeño—were produced without these additives from their inception. Shoppers can identify the updated versions by a "No Artificial Colors Added" label appearing on the front of packaging at retailers like Walmart.
Sandra Kirkpatrick, Senior Director of Marketing at Barcel USA, described the shift as a move toward meeting modern consumer expectations without sacrificing the brand’s signature intensity. The initiative aligns with a broader mandate from parent company Grupo Bimbo to remove artificial colorants from its global snack catalog by the same 2026 deadline. As retail inventory cycles through, shoppers may encounter both legacy and updated versions of the products on shelves simultaneously.
