Hoverfly Technologies Enters Component Market to Replace Chinese Drones

At Xponential 2026, Florida-based Hoverfly Technologies unveiled Hoverfly Elements, a new division dedicated to producing NDAA-compliant drone hardware. The launch targets a domestic market projected to reach $14.4 billion by 2033, as federal mandates increasingly restrict the use of Chinese-manufactured components in defense and critical infrastructure applications.

The new business unit focuses on supplying the critical building blocks required by U.S. defense and commercial drone manufacturers. Initial offerings feature high-performance motors and electronic speed controllers developed in partnership with Korea Robot Manufacturing, alongside high-integrity GPS modules designed with Septentrio. These components are engineered to satisfy the rigorous audit requirements of the Drone Dominance Program and the Department of Defense’s Blue UAS framework.

CEO Steve Walters noted that the division emerged from a decade of experience operating within defense supply chains. As federal regulations tighten—moving from restricted assembly to full domestic traceability by 2027—the company aims to position itself as a reliable alternative for systems integrators and procurement officers. Future expansion plans include the development of tether kits for extended-duration missions and custom integration services for original equipment manufacturers.
