Freddy’s Enters Dirty Soda Market with Custard Cream Lineup

Wichita-based Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is betting on the trend of spiked fountain drinks, launching a new beverage menu today. The collection, dubbed Freddy’s Bevies, features five cream sodas topped with the chain’s signature vanilla custard, alongside a series of flavored teas and lemonades across its 580 locations.

The new drink menu aims to capitalize on the rising consumer demand for premium, customized beverages. The highlight of the launch is the Custard Cream Soda series, which uses Starry or Dr Pepper as a base, mixed with fruit syrups and finished with a float of vanilla custard cream. Flavors include the coconut-infused Coco Loco, the orange-forward Golden Hour, and the Blue Rizzberry, among others.

Rick Petralia, senior director of menu strategy and innovation, noted that the move is a direct response to guests seeking more elevated drink options. He described the new items as a richer, creamier iteration of the popular dirty soda trend. Beyond the cream sodas, the chain has introduced three fruit-forward tea and lemonade options, including peach, strawberry, and mango varieties. The full lineup is now available for walk-in, drive-thru, and mobile app orders.
