GlobalFoundries Taps Infosys for AI-Driven IT Operations Overhaul

Semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries has extended its multi-year partnership with IT giant Infosys, tasking the firm with a comprehensive shift toward AI-led managed services. The engagement aims to move GlobalFoundries away from traditional external support toward an autonomous, predictive model for its global infrastructure and data operations.

Under the terms of the agreement, Infosys will assume responsibility for GlobalFoundries' end-to-end application management, service desk operations, and infrastructure oversight. The partnership leverages Infosys' established history as an incumbent provider and its specific expertise in the semiconductor sector to drive continuous optimization across the manufacturer's enterprise IT landscape.

Vishal Mehra, Chief Information Officer at GlobalFoundries, described the move as a critical step in modernizing the company's internal systems to bolster resilience and user experience. For Infosys, the project represents a push to scale AI-led operations, with executive vice president Anand Swaminathan noting that the goal is to shift the manufacturer from reactive troubleshooting to predictive, autonomous service delivery, ultimately lowering the total cost of ownership.
