Maeve AI and Reclaim named top startups at Shoptalk Europe 2026

Two startups took center stage in Barcelona last week, winning the Shoptalk Europe 2026 pitch competition with technologies designed to solve persistent retail headaches. Maeve AI and Reclaim outperformed their peers by tackling two of the industry’s most expensive hurdles: the staggering rate of fashion returns and the complexities of circularity.

Maeve AI targets the root of fashion returns by focusing on production-level fit metrics. Current industry data shows that 70% of returns in women’s wear stem from poor fit, exacerbated by inconsistent standards among garment technologists. By addressing these discrepancies before a product hits the shelf, the company aims to curb waste. Reclaim approaches the lifecycle from the other end, using artificial intelligence to connect consumers directly to repair, resale, or recycling services, effectively transforming individual garments into long-term connected assets.

The event also served as a launchpad for broader retail shifts. CTO Fabian Kothe announced that Kaufland Global Marketplace will expand into Spain and the Netherlands this summer, granting sellers access to nine countries through a single registration. Furthermore, TikTok Shop confirmed its expansion into Austria, Belgium, Poland, and the Netherlands, signaling a continued push for social commerce dominance across Europe.
