Adam Driver Closes the Door on Star Wars Return

The project, titled The Hunt for Ben Solo, was developed in partnership with director Steven Soderbergh, alongside writers Scott Z. Burns and Rebecca Blunt. Despite their efforts to craft a narrative that brought the redeemed villain back to the screen, Lucasfilm executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman ultimately declined the pitch. Driver noted that the studio's refusal centered on the established canon of the character’s death in The Rise of Skywalker.

While Driver admitted the rejection was a "bummer," he expressed gratitude for the fan campaign that supported the potential film, which included aerial banners and billboards. Although he considers the ship to have sailed on his involvement with the franchise, he remains active in major studio projects, recently confirming his role as Mister Sinister in the upcoming X-Men reboot. Speculation continues regarding the future of the Star Wars universe under Simon Kinberg and Jon Watts, though Driver insists his time in the galaxy is finished.
