Amabile, famously known as "Grocery Store Joe" from his appearances on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, shared the milestone on social media. While he noted that his finishing time was his slowest to date, he characterized the achievement as his greatest accomplishment. His wife, Serena Pitt, who had originally encouraged him to undergo the full-body Prenuvo scan that led to the early-stage diagnosis, cheered him on from the sidelines alongside fellow television personality Kaitlyn Bristowe.
The path to the marathon was marked by a rigorous recovery process at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Following the August surgery, Amabile shifted his training focus away from high-intensity workouts, prioritizing mobility and rest as recommended by his medical team. The reality star admitted that the period between his diagnosis and the procedure was emotionally taxing, yet he maintained a positive outlook throughout his rehabilitation, which included daily medication and ongoing MRI monitoring. Pitt remained a constant support, celebrating their wedding anniversary during his recovery and publicly describing him as her hero.
