During an appearance on Josh Smith’s Great Chat Show, the 44-year-old actress clarified that she refuses to hand out acting opportunities based on family connections. Biel, who shares two children with Justin Timberlake, deliberately restricted Silas’ appearance in Matchbox: The Movie to a minor, non-speaking role. She argued that granting him a significant part would be unfair to young performers who have spent years attending classes and auditioning to hone their craft.
Biel emphasized that she explicitly told her son he would not be permitted to handle a major monologue or substantial screen time without first proving his capability. By keeping his debut limited, she aimed to show that professional success requires hard work rather than parental intervention. The film, which stars John Cena and premiered on Apple TV on October 9, offered a controlled environment for Silas to experience a film set under the watch of producer Jules Daly, a long-time collaborator Biel trusted to maintain professional boundaries.
Beyond acting, the couple is allowing their children to explore music and other creative outlets naturally while keeping them shielded from intense public scrutiny. Despite the logistical pressures of their own demanding careers, including Timberlake’s world tours, the pair remains focused on ensuring their children develop their own paths. For now, Biel maintains that if Silas intends to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, he must earn his place on his own merits.
