The collaboration integrates the LexisNexis Drive Metrics scoring model directly into the IMS EdgeSDK, allowing U.S. auto insurers to bypass expensive cloud-based storage and processing. Because driving data remains on the user's device, the system addresses growing consumer concerns regarding data privacy while providing insurers with normalized risk insights. The companies claim that this edge-computing approach can yield cost reductions of 50 to 80 percent compared to conventional telematics programs.
For insurers, the technology offers a scalable path to integrate driving behavior analytics into existing mobile applications or white-label solutions. Jeff Batiste, senior vice president at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, noted that the integration helps carriers streamline underwriting and improve segmentation. Paul Stacy, CEO of IMS, added that the partnership aims to make personalized, data-driven pricing a mainstream standard rather than a niche feature. According to internal data, the Drive Metrics model provides a 79 percent improvement in predictive accuracy over standard rating factors, potentially enabling more precise pricing from the initial quote through to the claims process.
