The AX6 is engineered for versatility, utilizing a lightweight carbon fiber frame that meets ISO 5 cleanroom standards. Its design allows it to fit into constrained workspaces where traditional, caged industrial robots might be impractical. According to Rick Brookshire, director of product development, the machine is intended to lower entry barriers for new users by simplifying the integration process through no-code software and an intuitive interface.
Beyond its physical footprint, the robot supports a customizable Python development environment, allowing engineers to build complex workcells. It includes practical hardware touches such as multifunctional buttons at the end of the arm for manual positioning and an integrated multicolor LED ring for status monitoring. The AX6 is now available through Epson’s network of distributor partners, marking a shift for the manufacturer as it aims to provide a comprehensive range of safety solutions for diverse industries, from semiconductor assembly to medical device production.
