Max Factory Group pivots from paper flyers to digital customer engagement

Italian retail chain Max Factory Group has moved away from traditional printed promotional materials, opting instead for a digital communication strategy. By integrating Vonage’s Messages API and Conversational Connect platform, the 48-store network now reaches customers through WhatsApp, RCS, and SMS, replacing static flyers with personalized, data-driven outreach.

Before adopting these digital tools, the retailer struggled to track the effectiveness of its physical marketing campaigns. Printed materials offered little insight into customer behavior, leaving the company unable to scale its outreach or tailor content to individual preferences. The shift to an omnichannel approach allows the marketing team to dynamically adjust promotions based on a customer's specific purchase history and location.

Giacomo Cinelli, Head of Marketing at Max Factory, noted that the transition provides security and efficiency that legacy advertising channels cannot replicate. By centralizing campaign management, the company has reduced manual operational errors and minimized its environmental footprint. Fredrik Gessler, Head of API Product Management at Vonage, described the transition as a shift from one-size-fits-all marketing to intelligent, personalized engagement, enabling the retail group to scale its operations with greater reliability.
