Tina Reed Receives National Honor for Pike County Incident Response

Pike County Emergency Management Director Tina Reed has been awarded the 2026 Leadership in Incident Response Award by the National Association of State Fire Marshals. The recognition follows her decisive coordination during an October 2025 carbon dioxide pipeline leak, an event she navigated shortly after completing specialized industry training.

The award, presented during the organization's 36th Annual Fire Prevention & Safety Symposium in Garden Grove, California, highlights Reed’s effectiveness in managing the ExxonMobil valve station release. By integrating local first responders with company personnel, she ensured public safety throughout the rural incident. NASFM Chief Operating Officer Phil Oakes praised Reed for her professionalism and commitment to pipeline safety education, noting that her proactive approach serves as a model for emergency management nationwide.

Reed credited her team in Pike County for the successful outcome, emphasizing that collaboration between industry partners and emergency services remains the bedrock of community safety. The LIRA award, established in 2024 through a partnership between NASFM and ExxonMobil Pipeline Company, specifically honors responders who demonstrate exceptional leadership and operational discipline. Reed joins a growing roster of recipients, including Yazoo County’s Jack Willingham and Louisiana Fire Chief Todd Parker, who have been recognized for similar dedication to field excellence.
