Guido Oelkers to Depart Sobi CEO Role in 2027

After a decade at the helm of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB, CEO Guido Oelkers has notified the board of his intent to resign. The executive will remain in his position through January 2027, allowing the company to initiate a search for a successor to maintain continuity in its rare disease strategy.

The transition marks a significant shift for the Stockholm-based biopharma firm, which reported revenues of SEK 28 billion in 2025. Chairman David Meek credited Oelkers with expanding the company’s rare disease portfolio and securing its current market position. The board has already commenced the hunt for a replacement to ensure that the firm's global operations, spanning Europe, North America, and beyond, remain unaffected during the changeover.

Oelkers, who intends to pursue a new role outside the organization, emphasized that his focus remains entirely on the company's performance until his departure. Despite the impending leadership change, Sobi confirmed that its existing corporate strategy and financial targets remain unchanged. With approximately 2,000 employees worldwide, the company continues to focus on its clinical pipeline and international expansion as it enters this next phase of its growth.
