The legal filing stems from Eaton’s decision to publish a private video online that captured an explosive argument between the former couple. In the footage, Eaton claimed Mortensen was not the aggressor, a move that prompted Paul to seek protection through the statewide Domestic Violence Network on July 15. This development adds another layer to a volatile public fallout that has already seen the pair issued mutual three-year protective orders by a Utah court in April 2026.
Commissioner Russell Minas, who presided over the initial custody and violence hearings, previously noted that both parties bore responsibility for the cycle of physical confrontations. During those proceedings, video evidence surfaced showing Paul allegedly striking Mortensen and throwing furniture, leading to concerns regarding the safety of their child, Ever. The severity of these incidents forced a production halt on season 5 of their Hulu series earlier this year. While filming has since resumed, the cast reportedly refused to engage with Paul in a traditional capacity, pushing the production team to pivot directly toward season 6.
