The Department of Homeland Security stated that the British commentator entered the U.S. legally in 2019 on an O-1 visa but failed to appear at a July 22 immigration hearing, resulting in a final removal order. He has since been returned to the United Kingdom, ending a tenure that saw him serve as the director of political operations for West’s 2024 presidential campaign.
The detention triggered a public feud among conservative figures, with activist Laura Loomer claiming credit for exposing Yiannopoulos’ immigration status. Loomer’s assertion ignited a heated exchange on social media with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who denied Loomer's claims regarding her own professional ties to the commentator. While Yiannopoulos had previously advocated for mass deportations, his own status became a flashpoint due to his history as a publicist for West.
West, who continues to navigate separate legal battles regarding his former Malibu property, offered no comment on the situation during his concert. There is no evidence suggesting the rapper or Censori were involved in the circumstances leading to the federal action against his former staffer.
