Everseen, Hanshow and Vusion lead the industry's most-watched tech trends

From autonomous inventory robots to the inaugural RTIH Retail Technology Hot 100 list, last week’s industry pulse revealed a sector obsessed with automation and data-driven scaling. As retailers like Tesco and Murphy USA push deeper into robotics, the focus is shifting from simple cost-cutting to redefining the customer experience.

The inaugural RTIH Retail Technology Hot 100 list, curated by industry experts and public vote, identifies the ventures currently shaping the omnichannel landscape. The selection process prioritized production traction and genuine technical novelty, highlighting the shift toward solutions that solve acute retailer pain points.

Automation continues to dominate the physical storefront. Tesco is expanding its trial of Simbe’s Tally robot, moving beyond a single location to multiple sites. While the tech is designed for inventory accuracy, it is increasingly becoming a point of consumer curiosity, particularly among children. Meanwhile, Murphy USA has launched an autonomous hot food platform in collaboration with Automated Retail Technologies, featuring White Castle as its launch partner.

Strategic leadership shifts are also defining the current environment. Nathan Davies has joined Marks & Spencer as Head of Data & AI Delivery, signaling a continued push to scale AI-driven business impact. Simultaneously, the European market is seeing a rise in robotic delivery, with Uber Eats partnering with Coco Robotics to bring autonomous services to Helsinki. These developments occur even as some pilots face friction; Starship Technologies recently concluded its operations in Sheffield following incidents of vandalism, underscoring the ongoing challenge of integrating autonomous hardware into public urban spaces.
