Dr. McGough, who currently serves as CEO and Chief Public Health Officer of the Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County Health Department, steps into the role with a mandate to bridge local expertise with national policy. His tenure arrives at a pivotal moment for public health infrastructure, as the association continues to navigate complex legislative agendas and the ongoing need for emergency preparedness. NACCHO CEO Lori Tremmel Freeman noted that his background in strengthening local workforces will be instrumental in supporting health departments nationwide during his term.
The incoming president plans to leverage the association’s platform to expand access to critical community resources. His leadership will be supported by a 20-member board of elected health officials, including President-Elect Dr. Bisola Ojikutu of the Boston Public Health Commission, Vice President Renae Moch of Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health, and Immediate Past President Damōn Chaplin of the City of Minneapolis Health Department. Together, this governing body oversees the association's strategic direction and financial health while acting as the primary voice for local and tribal health interests.
