Philips Debuts QLED Ambilight Series to Upgrade Home Viewing

In a move to blend color precision with its signature ambient lighting, Philips Television launched a new QLED series on August 11, 2026. The lineup integrates Quantum Dot display technology with the brand’s proprietary light projection, aiming to pull the cinematic experience beyond the physical boundaries of the screen.

The new series targets viewers seeking a more dynamic picture, leveraging Quantum Dot technology to achieve a wider color spectrum and increased brightness. By pairing these visuals with LEDs that react to on-screen movement and audio, the sets create a reactive environment meant to soften visual contrast and reduce eye strain during extended viewing sessions.

Fangfang Li, CEO of SKYWORTH USA, noted that the integration of QLED technology is designed to elevate the immersion factor for gaming, sports, and streaming. Beyond the panel quality, the televisions come equipped with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support to handle high-fidelity audio and video. The sets operate on the Roku TV platform, which includes the 'Roku Backdrops' feature, allowing the display to function as a digital art gallery with synchronized ambient lighting even when the television is not actively broadcasting content.

Consumers can purchase the units in 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch configurations starting today through Amazon and BJ's Wholesale Club.
