ROMCO Renews Sponsorship of Texas A&M Electric Race Team

After a high-stakes performance at the Michigan International Speedway, the Texas A&M Formula SAE Electric Team has secured continued backing from Dallas-based distributor ROMCO Equipment Co. for the 2026 season, marking another year of investment in the university’s high-performance engineering pipeline.

The partnership focuses on the AME26, an electric race vehicle developed by a multidisciplinary student team founded in 2021. By simulating complex business and manufacturing environments, the program prepares students for leadership roles in the engineering sector. The team recently put their design to the test at the June 16–20 Formula SAE Electric competition, where they faced national evaluation on endurance, cost analysis, and technical performance.

Austin Fitch, ROMCO Vice President of Operations and an alumnus of Texas A&M, noted that the collaboration aligns with the company’s focus on fostering innovation. ROMCO, an SMT company established in 1961, provides heavy equipment to the mining and construction sectors across Texas and New Mexico. By supporting the student-led development of electric racing technology, the firm aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial application.
