Innoviz to supply LiDAR for Mobileye’s new robotaxi fleet

Mobileye is pivoting to a vertically integrated robotaxi business, naming Innoviz Technologies as its core LiDAR provider. The initiative aims to launch in a major U.S. city by 2027, utilizing a fleet that relies on the InnovizTwo sensor platform to navigate complex urban environments for autonomous ride-hailing.

The partnership marks a significant expansion for Innoviz, which projects a potential demand for over 150,000 LiDAR units as the program matures. Mobileye plans to kick off the service with approximately 100 vehicles in 2027, scaling to 17,000 units over the subsequent five years. Each vehicle will be equipped with nine InnovizTwo sensors, covering long-range and short-to-mid-range detection to ensure 360-degree situational awareness.

By integrating its Mobileye Drive™ system with the Moovit mobility platform, Mobileye intends to control the full stack—from fleet management to teleoperation. Omer Keilaf, CEO of Innoviz, described the move as a validation of "Physical AI," noting that the platform is already active in real-world testing. While the company anticipates significant volume, final deployment figures remain subject to Mobileye’s specific operational scaling and commercial requirements.
