Byrne confirmed his exit from the Primark technology team via LinkedIn, crediting his former colleagues for their support during his tenure. He now joins Enva, a company focused on recycling and resource recovery, where he will help integrate technology into their core growth strategy. His move follows the recent appointment of Lucy Slinger, the former deputy CFO of Ikea franchisee Ingka Group, as Primark’s new Chief Financial Officer. Slinger arrives at a critical juncture as owner Associated British Foods prepares to spin off the retailer to operate as a standalone entity.
While the company refreshes its leadership, it continues to clarify its stance on digital expansion. Despite reports linking Primark to a potential entry into home delivery—fueled by interest in a Staffordshire distribution center recently acquired by Marks & Spencer for £67.5 million—the retailer maintains that its business model remains unchanged. Primark continues to resist full-scale online delivery, citing the unsustainable costs of shipping and returns. Instead, the company is focusing on its Click & Collect service and the rollout of its mobile customer app in the UK, Ireland, and Italy to bridge the gap between physical retail and digital engagement.
