The partnership builds on a development relationship dating back to 2021, supported by investments from Toyota Ventures and Woven Capital. By embedding Third Wave’s software into Raymond’s existing material handling equipment, the companies aim to enhance throughput and safety in dynamic environments. The technology focuses on a shared autonomy model, where remote supervisors intervene only when necessary, keeping the rest of the fleet operational without interruption.
Initial deployments will feature the automated Raymond Swing-Reach truck, with additional models slated for release through Raymond’s global support network. Beyond hardware, the integration provides customers with fleet-wide visibility and data-driven insights to track performance. According to Michael Field, chief operations officer at Toyota Material Handling North America, this move is a strategic expansion of their existing ecosystem designed to optimize dock-to-dock and trailer loading operations.
