Comedian Josh Johnson Mocks Elon Musk’s Paranoia and Wealth

Addressing a sold-out crowd at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre, comedian Josh Johnson targeted Elon Musk’s public persona, characterizing the billionaire as a deeply paranoid figure whose self-imposed controversies inevitably fuel the public hostility he fears. Johnson’s routine drew sharp parallels between Musk’s erratic behavior and the growing exhaustion surrounding his influence.

Johnson centered his critique on the irony of Musk’s worldview, suggesting that while the tech mogul believes everyone is out to get him, he invites that scrutiny by constantly inserting himself into public discourse and government policy. According to the comedian, Musk’s wealth provides a buffer of sycophants, yet those closest to him seem unable to offer genuine support, often seeking only proximity to his fortune.

During the set, Johnson also weighed in on Alex Gibney’s documentary, "Musk," which the subject famously dismissed as a "hit piece." Johnson described the film as a comprehensive look at the entrepreneur’s orbit, noting that even those who know him best appear to lack positive testimonials. The comedian highlighted a specific claim involving Ashley St. Clair, who alleged that Musk offered her $40 million to remain silent for the project. For Johnson, the scale of that alleged bribe serves as the ultimate indictment of Musk's character. "Do you know how bad you have to be to offer somebody $40 million to just not talk about you at all?" he asked the audience. The special also touched on Musk’s 2024 admission regarding his use of prescribed ketamine, which Johnson suggested contributes to the billionaire's volatile state of mind.
