Deloitte and JetZero Launch STEM Workforce Initiative in Greensboro

The collaboration integrates Deloitte’s industry expertise with local academic and civic partners, including the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford County Schools, and the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. The program launches this summer with an eight-day educator workshop focused on robotics, artificial intelligence, and computer science. These educators will bring hands-on curriculum into classrooms throughout the academic year, creating a direct pipeline for students to transition into aerospace and advanced manufacturing careers.

Data from the 2026 myFutureNC report underscores the necessity of this intervention: in 2024, only 16% of Guilford County high school seniors entered the workforce immediately upon graduation, despite manufacturing accounting for 11.1% of local employment. By embedding STEM training early, the project seeks to align educational outcomes with the rapid industrial expansion driven by JetZero’s new factory. Brian Umbenhauer, founder of the Believers program, emphasized the goal of creating tangible career paths within the community, while JetZero CEO Tom O'Leary noted that securing the future of aerospace requires a sustained investment in local talent development.
