“It’s extremely difficult for me to understand having a debilitating disease,” said David Faustino, reflecting on the health struggles of his longtime friend and former co-star Christina Applegate. Since her 2021 diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, the actor has remained a pillar of support for his former Married… With Children partner.
Faustino, who played Bud Bundy opposite Applegate’s Kelly Bundy, describes the actress’s journey as a significant blow, yet one she manages with her characteristic sharpness. He notes that while the physical toll of the autoimmune disease is immense, her trademark dry, sarcastic wit remains entirely intact. According to Faustino, humor serves as her primary mechanism for navigating the daily realities of her condition.Beyond their shared history on the sitcom, the two maintain a close connection through frequent visits and constant communication. Faustino emphasizes that their relationship balances deep, serious conversations with the same lighthearted rapport they held decades ago. Applegate has been increasingly transparent about the severity of her health, recently sharing on her podcast, MesSY, that she has faced more than 30 hospitalizations since her diagnosis to manage unimaginable pain. While those in her inner circle remain acutely aware of the unpredictable nature of the neurodegenerative disease, they continue to provide a consistent network of support as she confronts her most difficult days.
