Dallas-based Topaz Labs is rolling out a significant performance update for Mac users, promising up to double the processing speed for image upscaling and enhancement tasks. Powered by the new proprietary Topaz NeuroStream 2 acceleration technology, the update targets local hardware optimization across the company’s flagship desktop applications.
The speed improvements apply directly to diffusion-based models within Topaz Photo and Topaz Gigapixel. Users working with tools like Wonder 2, Denoise Max, Super Focus 3, and Face Recovery 3 will see substantial gains in tasks ranging from noise reduction to detail restoration. According to internal benchmarks, the company achieved a 1.74x speed increase on M4 chips for 4X upscaling using the Wonder 3 model, while sharpening tasks on M1 hardware saw nearly a 1.90x performance boost.Xiaoyu (Kevin) Wang, Head of AI at Topaz Labs, noted that these optimizations allow studio professionals to process massive 200MP images in half the time previously required. The update is available now for existing users, and the company has integrated an automated compatibility check into its system requirements documentation to help users verify performance expectations on specific Apple Silicon configurations.
