Police Footage Subpoenaed in Escalating Dolly Parton Estate Dispute

The company managing Dolly Parton’s business affairs has subpoenaed police body camera footage from Vanderbilt Medical Center, targeting an encounter between officers and the singer’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, during her final hours on August 25. The move intensifies a bitter legal conflict that has already resulted in restraining orders.

She’s Alive, LLC, which oversees the late country icon’s estate, filed the request on October 27 to obtain recordings from the hospital spanning August 24 and 25. While the estate’s filing characterizes the incident as an alleged altercation, representatives for Seaver vehemently deny any misconduct. Sources close to the nephew claim his interaction with police was merely a discussion regarding logistics for transporting Parton’s body, alleging that officers treated him with undue hostility upon his arrival.

This legal maneuver marks a sharp decline in the relationship between the estate and Seaver, who served as Parton’s head of security for over two decades. Following his dismissal from his security duties in September, the estate secured a temporary restraining order against him, citing alleged threats made to employees and business associates. Seaver has consistently maintained that his frustration stemmed from unpaid invoices and professional grief rather than malice. As the court prepares for a November 10 hearing to revisit the restraining order, the requested hospital footage threatens to pull a deeply private moment into the center of an increasingly public and contentious battle over the singer’s legacy.
