The public disclosure follows a period of intense legal friction between Seaver and Danny Nozell, Parton’s manager of two decades. In September, a temporary restraining order was issued against Seaver after Nozell alleged that the former security chief made threatening remarks regarding his military background and access to weapons. Seaver has since contested these claims in court, arguing that the text messages cited by the management were stripped of necessary context. He maintains the conflict stemmed from a dispute over a $251,000 payment for security services at properties owned by the late singer, an amount he asserts has now been resolved.
Seaver’s absence from the Wednesday gathering, which featured performances by Reba McEntire and Ella Langley, contrasts sharply with his previous role as a trusted confidant. He was the family member who formally announced Parton’s death in August, a task he said she entrusted to him years prior. While Seaver’s daughter was also excluded, other relatives, including niece Danielle Parton—now a brand ambassador for the estate—attended the ceremony. Seaver has yet to identify who specifically instructed him to stay away or if the exclusion is directly tied to the ongoing litigation involving the estate and its business entities.
