Jenna Ortega, having spent her formative years moving between television productions, confirmed she will likely step back from series work following the third season of Netflix’s Wednesday. Ortega stated on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that she is ready to explore life outside the industry, though she has not permanently closed the door on future roles. Similarly, Zendaya, who faced an exceptionally demanding production schedule this year with projects including Dune: Part Three and The Drama, told fans she intends to disappear from public view for a while to recharge.
The shift is not limited to younger stars. David Krumholtz, known for his work in Oppenheimer, announced an indefinite break last August, describing the industry as a burden he needed to set aside to regain his professional perspective. Bryan Cranston clarified his own hiatus plans, emphasizing that his year-long pause is intended for personal rejuvenation and time with his wife rather than a full retirement. Tom Holland, citing the mental strain of demanding roles like those in The Crowded Room, also signaled that he will likely reduce his output in 2027 to avoid burnout. These departures highlight a growing trend among performers who are increasingly willing to prioritize mental health and private life over continuous career momentum.
