Mitte hired Harrison Business Management in 2011 to oversee his income, insurance, and taxes. By 2015, the actor and his mother, Dyna, met with Detective Richard Elias to report theft, claiming the firm ignored strict budgetary constraints designed to preserve the actor’s savings. While Mitte was reportedly earning up to $500,000 annually, the family discovered tax liens totaling $330,000. Despite consulting legal counsel, the family opted against a civil lawsuit, citing the prohibitive costs and time required to pursue the matter.
Lisa Harrison has never faced criminal charges regarding Mitte’s finances. Her husband, attorney David Brody, dismissed the allegations during a recent inquiry, stating she did nothing wrong. While Harrison was involved in a separate 2018 civil dispute with another client, Adam Sudman, that case concluded in arbitration without a finding of fraud. Mitte, who died by suicide on October 12, spent his later years focusing on disability advocacy and his personal recovery from the financial strain that persisted long after his breakthrough role.
