Ridley will portray Lee Crane, an ocean scientist thrust into command of the USS Seaview, a mysterious, retro-futuristic submarine discovered encased in Arctic ice. The series follows Crane as she leads a high-tension crew on missions to contain supernatural threats while investigating an erased history and the origins of Atlantis. Beyond her starring role, Ridley is set to executive produce the series alongside writer Akiva Goldsman and director Matt Shakman, both industry veterans known for their work on high-profile genre projects.
Production is currently underway, though Paramount+ has yet to set a premiere date. The project marks another significant turn for the actress, who is also slated to appear in the dark fantasy holiday film Ebenezer alongside Johnny Depp and Ian McKellen. Despite ongoing speculation regarding her return to the Star Wars franchise as Rey, Ridley remains focused on this new expansion into undersea science fiction, joining a production produced in association with the estate of the original 1961 film creator, Irwin Allen.
