Since its debut in 2011, the horror staple has secured 17 Emmy Awards and over 100 nominations. The current renewal marks a shift for the network, as FX had not ordered a single-season extension since 2017; the previous three-season block order ended with the current run. With the Season 13 finale scheduled for October 29, the network opted to secure the show’s future before the current chapter wraps.
Season 13 featured an ambitious crossover of storylines and recurring cast members, an effort Murphy described as a one-time feat that he does not intend to replicate at that scale. While the current season drew roughly 4 million streams during its premiere window, it sparked polarized reactions from fans regarding its complex narrative structure. Despite the mixed reception, Murphy remains committed to the project, noting that FX chairman John Landgraf has granted him an open-ended invitation to continue production as long as he remains interested. Looking ahead, Murphy is actively exploring ways to evolve the brand beyond its domestic roots, potentially expanding the horror anthology into international territories.
