Retail Tech Briefing: Jysk, Ikea, and Morrisons Lead Weekly Innovation

Retailers are accelerating their digital transformation this week, led by Jysk’s shift to a unified commerce platform across the UK and Ireland. From Ikea’s new digital flagship store on Douyin in China to Morrisons’ milestone in surplus food reduction, companies are doubling down on operational efficiency and customer-centric technology.

Jysk has begun rolling out its Enactor-powered platform, with store teams in the UK and Ireland adopting mobile point-of-sale systems to streamline customer interactions. The retailer expects to complete the transition by mid-November, enabling services like direct-to-home delivery from store inventory. Meanwhile, Ingka Group has launched an official Ikea Douyin flagship store in China, offering over 6,500 products to shoppers in 301 cities, further integrating video-based content with e-commerce.

Operational upgrades are also sweeping through the grocery sector. Morrisons has reached a milestone of 4 million meals saved through its partnership with Too Good To Go and is now implementing Logile software to optimize store workload planning. Similarly, Fortenova Group is deploying millions of electronic shelf labels across its Konzum and Mercator networks in Croatia and Slovenia. In leadership news, Kingfisher has appointed former OBI chief Sebastian Gundel as its new CEO, effective February 2027, while AI automation platform Duvo secured $32 million in Series A funding to expand its workforce-augmentation tools for retailers.
