Advantech and DEKRA Partner to Navigate EU Cyber Resilience Act

As the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act forces a shift in how industrial hardware is brought to market, Advantech and DEKRA have signed a memorandum of understanding to embed cybersecurity compliance directly into the product design phase, aiming to accelerate global certification for Edge AI and industrial IoT systems.

The partnership marks a departure from traditional post-production certification. By integrating DEKRA’s testing expertise into Advantech’s development cycle, the companies intend to address international standards like IEC 62443 from the earliest stages of engineering. Miller Chang, president of Advantech’s Embedded Sector, noted that this proactive strategy is essential as compliance evolves from a final hurdle into a core product requirement. The collaboration targets a reduction in development costs and market access risks for sectors including energy, robotics, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Early results are already visible: Advantech’s AFE-E630 industrial edge system has secured an Attestation of Conformity from DEKRA, meeting the IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 security requirements. This milestone serves as a template for the two companies as they expand their joint efforts into mission-critical unmanned systems and AI-enabled infrastructure. Stan Zurkiewicz, CEO of DEKRA, emphasized that providing independent, verifiable safety evidence is now a prerequisite for digital trust in connected industrial environments.
