RJ Mitte, Breaking Bad Actor, Dies at 34

RJ Mitte, recognized globally for his portrayal of Walter White Jr. in the acclaimed drama Breaking Bad, has died at age 34. A county official confirmed the actor passed away on Monday, October 12, in Texas. Law enforcement authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mitte’s career was defined by his performance in 56 episodes of the AMC series, where he played the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White. Beyond his work on screen, he was a vocal advocate for disability rights, drawing on his personal experience with cerebral palsy. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, earning the 2025 DREAM Award from the Disability Rights Legal Center for his commitment to inclusive representation.

Only days before his death, Mitte appeared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast to discuss the legacy of his Breaking Bad character. He expressed skepticism regarding optimistic fan theories about the White family’s future, noting that the intensity of federal investigations into Walter White’s empire would have likely left the family under permanent scrutiny. Outside of his professional life, Mitte had recently celebrated a personal milestone, having become engaged to his longtime partner, Kennedy Suarez, earlier this year.
