Linda McCartney’s Iconic Music Portraits Return to Vinyl

Running through February 2027 at the Wrensilva showroom on Melrose Avenue, the exhibition pairs McCartney’s original photography with the corresponding vinyl album covers. Visitors can listen to the featured records on high-fidelity Wrensilva consoles, bridging the gap between the visual history of the subjects and the sonic experience of their music. The collection highlights portraits of influential figures, including Paul McCartney, The Pretenders, and Professor Longhair.

McCartney’s approach relied on presence rather than direction, rejecting stiff poses in favor of informal, unguarded moments. Her career, which spanned decades, treated the camera as a natural extension of her life as an activist and musician. By placing these images alongside the actual albums they once adorned, the installation transforms a static gallery viewing into a tactile, immersive ritual. The project is a collaboration between the Wrensilva workshop, the Linda McCartney Archive LLP, and MPL Communications.
